Milk Education are currently partnered with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Guildford that provides support to students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Our client is seeking a qualified and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join their team and make a positive impact on students’ communication development.

The role:

You will provide specialised speech, language, and communication support to students in a PRU setting, assessing, planning, and delivering individual and group interventions. You'll collaborate with staff to support each student's communication goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess speech, language, and communication needs of students with diverse learning profiles.
  • Develop and implement tailored therapy programs.
  • Deliver individual or group therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with staff to integrate communication strategies in the classroom.
  • Advise and support staff on effective speech and language development techniques.
  • Monitor progress and adapt interventions as needed.
  • Work with families and external agencies for coordinated support.
  • Provide training and guidance on communication strategies and interventions.

Essential criteria: 

  • Recognized qualification in Speech and Language Therapy (e.g., degree, HCPC registered).
  • Experience working with children, especially those with complex communication needs.
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and evidence-based interventions for speech, language, and communication difficulties.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in a school or alternative provision setting (desirable).
  • Patient and empathetic approach to students with emotional or behavioral needs.
