The Role
As a Vehicle Technician, you will be at the heart of the service department, ensuring that all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards. From routine servicing to complex diagnostics, you will play an essential role in delivering top-tier customer satisfaction. You'll work with a wide range of vehicles and will be expected to provide expert-level service, ensuring all work is completed to the manufacturer's specifications and legal standards. Key responsibilities include:
Key Responsibilities:
* Vehicle Diagnostics: Use advanced diagnostic equipment to inspect, identify, and troubleshoot faults in a range of vehicles, ensuring timely and accurate repairs.
* Maintenance & Repairs: Carry out essential maintenance services, such as oil changes, brake checks, tire replacements, and engine repairs, ensuring that all work meets industry standards.
* Servicing: Perform comprehensive vehicle servicing, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and legal requirements, and maintaining peak vehicle performance.
* Customer Interaction: Provide clear communication with customers, explaining issues, repair requirements, and estimated costs. Ensure customers are kept informed about the progress of their vehicles.
* Quality Assurance: Ensure all work meets the highest quality and safety standards. Follow industry-relevant repair procedures and adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.
* Record Keeping: Accurately document all completed work, parts used, and time spent, ensuring proper documentation for all service and repair jobs.
* Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with the latest technologies, vehicle models, and repair techniques. Participate in regular manufacturer-specific training programs to further enhance your skills.
* Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other technicians and service advisors to ensure smooth workflow and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
* Ideally, you will have an NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or an equivalent qualification.
* MOT Testing Licence is highly desirable.
* A full, valid UK driving license is required.
* Strong problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to work efficiently and to a high standard in a busy workshop environment.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
