We are currently recruiting a reliable and professional Receptionist to support our client at their Highways Control Centre in the Surrey area. This is a key front-facing role that supports the smooth day-to-day operation of the control centre, providing a welcoming presence and administrative support to both internal teams and external visitors. Alternate shift hours with existing staff member (Monday to Friday 7am till 3pm and 11am till 7pm).
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, contractors, and employees entering the control centre.
Ensure all guests are signed in/out and issued appropriate access badges in accordance with site security protocols.
Answer and direct incoming calls and emails in a courteous and efficient manner.
Provide general administrative assistance, including filing, data entry, and handling deliveries.
Support control room staff with ad-hoc tasks to facilitate the efficient functioning of the centre.
Maintain the reception area to a high standard, ensuring it is tidy, professional, and welcoming at all times.
Manage booking systems for meeting rooms and provide refreshments as required.
Liaise with facilities and security teams to report any issues or incidents promptly.
Required Skills and Experience:
Previous experience in a receptionist or front-of-house role.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other standard office software.
Ability to work calmly under pressure and handle confidential information appropriately.
Must be punctual, reliable, and presentable.
Desirable:
Familiarity with highways, infrastructure, or emergency service environments.
Experience working within a control centre or similar high-security facility.
