Menzies Distribution are seeking a Finance Analyst for a 6 month FTC to join our dynamic team, based in South Gyle, Edinburgh.  The Financial Planning & Reporting (“FPR”) team works closely with our businesses creating a real and active partnership with both our Operations and Management teams.  The team's role is to provide 'real time' support and analysis, to be a trusted advisers and to add value that will assist in strategic decision making.  Working in FPR, you’ll have to juggle lots of tasks to meet deadlines and often use problem solving and judgement skills.  Our FPR team are great with people and instinctively know what needs to be done to put things right and how to strengthen our relationships with our businesses through the provision of more meaningful budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning for our Newstrade commercial and operations teams.

This role will provide effective commercial procedures, or initiate change, to ensure key operational, commercial and financial targets are delivered, and build partnerships and maintain strong relationships with all senior managers and their teams.

The Details:

  • Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday
  • Fixed Term Contract for 6 months 
  • Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 dependant on experience
  • Location: Edinburgh, EH12 9DQ
  • 37.25 hours per week, 9am - 5pm
  • Fully funded financial sponsorship to complete a professional accountancy qualification such as ACCA or CIMA if the role goes permanent. 

Finance Analyst Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the management of the process for delivering the reporting and planning cycle ensuring review meetings and reports are all produced to meet deadlines for the businesses
  • Support the regional operations teams with financial modelling and output, as required
  • Monitor, develop and maintain key departmental processes and procedures
  • Support the routine management accounting, KPI and other regular reporting for the businesses
  • Build internal customer relationships with close partnering primarily with the Operations teams
  • Maintain Excel templates used for reporting, planning and modelling within the businesses
  • Proactively support the cost savings process ensuring that all targets are met through regular contact and reporting to the businesses
  • Continue to develop the performance reporting analysis focusing on increased visual output
  • Completion and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations

Key Experience and Qualifications:

  • Entry level Finance working experience preferred (posting journals, PO process understanding, running and analysing month end reports).
  • Ideally have with some sort of relevant Finance, business or accountancy qualification e.g. HNC/HND/Uni Degree
  • The ability to convey complex financial information in a concise, non-technical manner
  • Previous knowledge of SAP would be advantageous but not critical
  • Good attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to the changing requirements of business customers and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Well developed communication and influencing skills, including the ability to challenge inputs
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills
