The Role of Senior IT Project Manager

Our client, one of the UK's leading trade suppliers, is seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to oversee large projects focused on SAP and bespoke .NET solutions. As a Senior IT Project Manager, you will be accustomed to managing end-to-end business transformation projects and have a proven track record of driving projects to successful delivery. This is a hybrid role, requiring you to work onsite three days per week in Howden, East Yorkshire, and remotely for the other two days.

Key Responsibilities
As the Senior IT Project Manager you will:

  • be responsible for the overall management, control, and delivery of business-critical projects
  • manage and mentor Project Managers
  • work closely with your stakeholders to define project deliverables
  • deliver projects on time and to agreed budgets in a fast-paced environment
  • be responsible for end-to-end project management, from planning, forecasting, reporting project cost, resource planning, risk/issue management and stakeholder management
  • manage multi-skilled teams composed of internal staff, partners, and contract resources.


About you
Candidates will have a proven track record of delivering complex technical projects, ideally with a minimum of 5+ years within a dedicated Senior IT Project Manager role. You will also have the following experience:

  • comprehensive Project Management of two or more large business transformation projects completed within a minimum of 18 months
  • experienced managing systems projects (ideally SAP or bespoke.net)
  • skilled in project planning, control techniques and tools
  • expert in MS Project Professional ideally connected to MS Project Online
  • good business knowledge and commercial awareness
  • exceptional communication, persuasion and influencing skills with all stakeholders
  • previous budget management experience
  • competent with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • highly organised and driven with a can-do attitude, able to work to deadlines and motivate others to hit milestones
  • applicants with experience managing projects with a focus on logistics or finance/accountancy
  • you will be an excellent communicator & planner with gravitas and credibility to work with senior business managers
  • project management qualifications (e.g., Prince 2 or PMI, MBA) preferred
