This Print Assistant role is office based in Howden (DN14 7SE) & forms part of the Press/Print Room/Department & is a key role for our business.

You will be working 37.5hrs per week, you may be required to work (depending on business demand) 7am-3pm/8am-4pm/9am-5pm Monday to Friday but we require some flexibility on this due to demands of the business.

MAIN FUNCTION:

  1. To assist the Printers as required ensuring safe and effective practices at all times.
  2. To carry out support activities to enable the Printers to maintain and maximise production output of the various printing and associated processes.

KEY TASKS:

  1. To assist Printers during set-up, running, clean downs / and housekeeping ensuring presses are kept at optimum condition
  2. Load relevant substrates to the print equipment ensuring an eye for detail.
  3. To keep the machines running in the absence of the Printer to enable continuation of production.
  4. To carry out assigned activities within agreed timescales.
  5. To work in a cost-efficient manner, to maximise production and minimise wastage of materials.
  6. To ensure all areas of the factory remain clean and tidy at all times, and to be involved in all necessary housekeeping activities to ensure this happens.
  7. To ensure all surplus resources are returned to warehouse to be added to stock on completion of work.
  8. To ensure all work-related documentation is completed accurately so that a true record is available at all times.
  9. To work in any department & carry out required duties as directed by the senior printer or Operations manager to contribute to overall success of the company.
  10. It is the responsibility of all employees to comply with Health and Safety Legislation and Company Policy; for maintaining safe working conditions including equipment; for drawing attention to hazards and to take reasonable care of themselves and others. You must ensure that all necessary safety devices and protective equipment is used and co-operate in the operation of the Health & Safety Policy.

N.B. All duties and responsibilities apply, as appropriate, in all areas of the premises.

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS / TARGETS:

  1. Methodical and adaptable approach to set tasks
  2. Production input & output from machines is cleared quickly and effectively.
  3. General cleanliness / tidiness of all areas.
  4. To be receptive to cross train in all areas of the business as directed by the Senior Printer or Operations Manager.
  5. To demonstrate flexibility by moving between departments.

KEY SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  1. Ability to understand written Works Instructions with reference to key tasks.
  2. A flexible and adaptable approach, with an ability to work as part of a team to meet tight deadlines.
