As the Control and Instrumentation Engineer, you will be the key player in maintaining and repairing the production equipment. You will be responsible for delivering professional and effective engineering support across the site, utilising your technical expertise in control, instrumentation, and computer systems.

Youll have the flexibility to work 39 hours per week between Monday and Friday days.


You may be needed for emergency callouts during unscheduled breakdowns. This might involve remotely plugging in a laptop from home, or in rare cases, coming to the site.


What Youll Be Doing:


  • Providing Expert Support: Youll be the go-to expert in control, instrumentation, and computer systems, supporting our plant operations.
  • Building Relationships: Youll maintain effective working relationships with our manufacturing and warehousing teams, as well as external suppliers.
  • Instrumentation Handling: Youll install, set up, and troubleshoot temperature, speed, weight, pressure, flow, and thickness sensing instrumentation.
  • Ensuring Safety Compliance: Youll ensure that all internal and external engineering support service providers comply with Health and Safety policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Using programmable logic controllers and bespoke PCs, youll monitor and troubleshoot controls, as well as set up and tune PID loops.
  • Maintaining Control Systems: Youll maintain and repair industrial control systems and networks to keep everything running smoothly.


What You Need to Succeed:


  • PLC Troubleshooting: Experience with PLC-based control systems is essential.
  • Instrumentation Expertise: You should have hands-on experience with analogue temperature, pressure, flow, speed, and weight measurement, as well as discrete sensors.
  • Process Loop Calibration: Youll need experience with process loop calibration and related equipment.
  • Industrial Networks: Experience with industrial control networks such as MODBUS, TCP/IP, and Profibus is required.
  • Motor Controls: You should have experience with motor controls and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Systems Knowledge: A working knowledge of major systems including HVAC, electrical controls, batch processes, water-cooled equipment, and CCTV is important.
  • Electrical Testing: Proficiency in using electrical test equipment is essential.
