SEN Teaching Assistant

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Goole, East Yorkshire, starting as soon as possible. This role involves providing personalised support for pupils aged 2-19 with Severe Learning Difficulties and Profound and Multiple Learning needs 

The school offers a holistic and inclusive approach to education, ensuring students with Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties, Multi-Sensory Impairments, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties receive tailored support. Each student follows an individualised curriculum, developed in line with their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to help them achieve both academic and life skills milestones.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist with lesson engagement and encourage student participation.
  • Implement strategies to support social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Foster independence while maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to monitor progress.
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Passion for supporting students with SEN.
  • Experience working with SEN students, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of SEN, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, or other learning difficulties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An enhanced Child or Child and Adult Workforce DBS, registered on the update service, or willingness to obtain one through GSL Education.

This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must pass all safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS.
