Cost of Van and What It Covers:
- Van Use Cost: £8 per shift, covering van rental, fuel, and insurance required for the work. Damage not covered. Payment plans available for damages with an insurance excess of £200.
- Vehicle Maintenance: You are responsible for checking the vans condition, including oil, ad blue, and screen wash levels. Immediate reporting to your on-site manager is required for any issues or damages.
Payment Terms:
- Daily Rate: £125 for a 9-hour route.
- Performance Bonus: Up to £12.50 per shift based on performance.
- Payment Frequency: Weekly (paid two weeks behind, with the first payment received in the 3rd week).
Fuel:
- Provided via a Shell Fuel Card.
Job Responsibilities:
- Load the delivery vehicle from a designated staging area.
- Deliver packages to residential and commercial locations within the Midlothian area.
- Drive responsibly, ensuring the van remains in good working condition.
- Frequently enter and exit the delivery van throughout the day.
- Lift and handle packages weighing up to 23kg.
Training:
- Initial Training: Provided by an external Amazon third-party vendor. Consists of 8 hours of classroom training, followed by two days of on-road training with an experienced driver (paid £117/day).
- Nursery Routes: 15 days of independent routes with progressive volume levels. Paid as a full route payment.
Self-Employed Requirements:
- Delivery Driving Experience: Minimum of 1 year preferred.
- General Driving Experience: Minimum of 2 years required.
- Driving License: Valid Full UK Driving License (Category B), suitable for driving a long transit van.
- Driving Skills: Ability to drive responsibly and handle a delivery van.
- Physical Ability: Capable of lifting and handling packages up to 23kg.
- Communication: Good communication skills for interacting with customers and reporting issues.
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United Kingdom.
- Self-Employment Registration: Must register with HMRC for a Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR). Provide 10-digit UTR number promptly.
- Background Check: Must pass a company-specific background check. Previous disclosures from other companies are not accepted.
Personal Protective Equipment & Delivery Equipment:
- Required PPE: Steel toe cap shoes and a high vis vest, supplied by the driver.
- Company-Supplied: Branded uniform and hi vis. Keychain for van keys must be attached at all times. Delivery device with pre-installed apps provided.
WISE:
- Payment Processing: Must sign all necessary documents on Wise and choose a Wise product. The invitation link will be sent prior to onboarding. Recommended to choose the flat rate VAT scheme for profitability.
Rota:
- Work Schedule: 7-day business with 2 days off in 7. Maximum of 6 consecutive working days. Specific days off must be requested in advance.
Delivery Area:
- Coverage: Midlothian area. Average finish time between 6pm and 7pm. Routes may become unachievable if completed too quickly.
