Shift Electrician - Edinburgh - Salary up to £42,000 DOE

BW is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Shift Electrician to join an in-house maintenance team, based at a large, prestigious static site in Edinburgh. This role offers a diverse schedule, rotating between days, back shifts, and nights, with generous time off in between.

As a key member of the team, you will work in a challenging yet rewarding environment, ensuring the smooth operation of electrical systems and contributing to the overall maintenance of the site. Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on all electrical systems and assets across the site.
  • Diagnose faults, source parts, and complete repairs efficiently and effectively.
  • Support backlog maintenance tasks and assist with specialist projects where required.
  • Ensure the safe and continuous operation of all mechanical and electrical engineering services and building plant.
  • Collaborate with the Electrical Supervisor, subcontractors, and the wider M&E team to deliver maintenance services to the highest standards.
  • Perform other M&E-related tasks as required to support the overall maintenance team.
Person Specification

  • Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship with proven experience in a similar role.
  • Holds a valid JIB card and 18th Edition certification.
  • Competent in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting building service systems and equipment.
  • Familiarity with the type of electrical systems found in large commercial environments.
  • Technical knowledge and experience to work safely and effectively without presenting danger to yourself or others.
  • Basic first aid and CPR training (or willingness to complete training upon hire).
  • Desirable but not essential: Knowledge of Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM) and experience working within Permit to Work procedures (e.g., SHTM 06-01, BSRIA, L8, Pressure Systems Regulations 2000).
  • Must be able to obtain a Basic Disclosure Scotland Certificate.

  • Base Salary: Up to £35,000, plus an £886 monthly shift allowance (equating to over £42,000 per year).
