Founded in 1978, Clark Contracts Ltd is a privately owned main contractor with several operating divisions; Construction, Fit Out, Small Works, Retail, Housing, Maintenance and Manufactured Joinery. We employ over 220 people with offices in the East and West of Scotland.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered within budget and maximizing profitability. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, including commercial, residential, and public sector developments.


Role & Responsibilities

Working with a team of surveyors within the Company the main roles and responsibilities will include:

Providing commercial input to the Estimating department for the submission of tenders.

Working closely with our Estimating, Design, H&S, Buying, & Operation Departments to develop pre/post-contract feasibility & viability strategies.

Delineation of Work Packages, Assessing, & Negotiating returns for compliance & best value

Drafting & Collating order documentation & Procuring Consultants & Subcontractors.

Taking active role in Clark Contracts Supply Chain Management Initiative to ensure relationships are developed with subcontractors.

Working closely with our Buying Department for the procurement of fixed/ time related Prelims & Materials.

Reviewing project insurance requirements and arranging for the supplementary cover where applicable.

Responsible for drafting and agreeing Collateral Warranty documentation.

Pro-active budgetary control of live construction projects in the form of (but not limited to): Measurement, Budgets, Cost Value Reconciliations, Cashflows, Payments/Notifications, Materials/Labour Reconciliation, and presentation to Commercial Manager & Directors.

Ensuring all Monthly valuations and final accounts are submitted and agreed with clients within agreed timescales.

Ensuring all contractual notifications & procedures are compiled within timeously (Early Warnings, Variations, Delay Notifications, etc.).

Taking an active role in the development of the staff.

Fully embracing the companies Customers 1st campaign to continually improve the way we deal with our Customers.


Candidate

Experience in Quantity Surveying role within main contracting organisation is preferred but not essential.

Holds a relevant academic qualification Degree / HND or equivalent in Quantity Surveying

Experience of procurement & sub-contractor management.

Comfortable with working with minimum of supervision and ability to solve problems by acting on own initiative.

Comfortable creating commercial reports for Commercial Manager & Directors.

Able to show track record of profitability on projects you have worked on.

Comfortable with standard forms of contract JCT, NEC, SBCC.

IT literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook.
