Position Overview:
As a Pupil Support Assistant, you will play an essential role in the school community by supporting students with a range of additional support needs, such as learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments. You will work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to create a nurturing environment that encourages academic, social, and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Individual and Group Support: Provide one-to-one and group support to children with special educational needs, tailoring your approach to meet their individual requirements.
Classroom Support: Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons, adapting resources as needed to ensure every child can engage with the curriculum.
Personal Care: Provide personal care support, such as assistance with feeding, toileting, and mobility, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
Emotional and Social Support: Build positive relationships with pupils to support their emotional well-being and social interactions.
Behavioural Assistance: Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in line with school policies and individual behaviour plans.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs is desirable, particularly in school or care settings, but not essential.
Empathy and Patience: A caring and compassionate approach, with the ability to build trusting relationships.
Flexibility: A proactive attitude to adapt to the varied needs of pupils.
