21 Health and Social Care is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pupil Support Assistant forspecial needs schools acrossEdinburgh. Position Overview:
As a Pupil Support Assistant, you will be a key part of the school community, providing support to students with a range of additional needs, including learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments. You will work alongside teachers and specialists, contributing to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individual and Group Support: Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils with special educational needs to enhance their learning experience and help them reach their full potential.
- Classroom Assistance: Assist the class teacher in the preparation and delivery of educational activities, adapting materials as required to meet the specific needs of each child.
- Personal Care: Support students with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance, while maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
- Emotional and Social Support: Develop trusting relationships with students, encouraging positive social interactions and fostering emotional well-being.
- Behavioral Support: Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors in accordance with the schools policies and individual behavior plans.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs, ideally in a school or care setting. However, this is not essential.
