Teaching Assistant Job available in Gosport.

A small infant school in Gosport is looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their school from January 2025, initially until February half term.

As a Teaching Assistant you will be working within a Year 1 class providing additional support to pupils with Autism in a mainstream infant school. The school is looking for someone on a part time basis 22.5 hours per week Monday - Friday 8.45am - 1.15pm or 17.5 hours per week Monday - Friday 11.45am - 3.15pm

Both timetables would include 1 hour lunchtime support, with SEND children in their lunch club, there will be 2 other staff members supporting this lunch club too.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a young child with Autism, helping pupils transition smoothly into school life
  • Implement tailored strategies to support the child's communication and interaction needs
  • Foster a calm, nurturing, and patient learning environment
  • Work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to ensure the child's needs are met effectively
  • Monitor and report on the child's progress, adjusting support as necessary
