Our client is a Hampshire based HVAC contractor that specialise in Rail maintenance contracts and commercial projects. The owner has ambitious plans for the business and is looking to bring a general manager onboard to realise those goals.

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our clients HVAC business, ensuring efficient project management, accurate estimating, effective budget formation and allocation, and driving new business development. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the HVAC industry, exceptional leadership skills, and a strong business acumen.

This position presents an opportunity to progress quickly into the Managing Directors post, when certain targets and goals are met (explained at length with us & our client at interview).

General Manager - HVAC

Project Management:

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking of HVAC projects from inception to completion.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Develop detailed project plans, ensuring resource availability and allocation.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, making adjustments as necessary to ensure successful project completion.

Estimating:

  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for HVAC projects, including labour, materials, and other expenses.
  • Analyse project specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop pricing strategies and competitive bids.

Budget Formation and Allocation:

  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the business, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
  • Monitor and control expenses to ensure adherence to the budget.
  • Prepare financial reports and forecasts, analysing variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Implement cost-saving measures and strategies to enhance profitability without compromising quality.

New Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company's market presence.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and industry partners.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement effective marketing and sales strategies.
  • Negotiate and close new business deals, ensuring alignment with company goals and values.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the HVAC industry, with a focus on project management and business development.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects and leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, and installation processes.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
