Position: IV&V Systems Engineer
Location: Portsmouth/Hybrid
Salary: £40,000 - £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: 37.5 hours per week
Overview: A leading marine mission systems is seeking a skilled Integration, Verification and Validation Systems Engineer to join their UK Integration & Test team. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative team dedicated to technical excellence and innovation in maritime technology.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the technical evaluation of customer requirements

Contribute to the creation of systems specs and technical documentation

Create and manage project plans, including test plans, cost estimation and task planning.

Develop test specifications and plans for integration and system testing.

Participate in development reviews such as peer and technical assessments.

Conduct system and software verification and validation tests, including customer acceptance tests (FAT, HAT, SAT).

Assist systems and software engineers with debugging and root cause analysis of issues.

Perform configuration repair and testing of returned customer equipment when necessary.
Required Experience:

Experience in planning and executing test and integration activities

Proficiency in building, configuring, and diagnosing issues in PC-based systems and networks.

Familiarity with tools such as DOORS, SVN, MS Office, Visio, and JIRA.

Experience working in an agile development environment, particularly SCRUM methodology.
Desirable Skills:

Understanding of software and system development principles and best practices.

Knowledge of publish-subscribe middleware architectures, e.g., DDS.

Experience configuring and testing network infrastructure (switching, routing, encryption, VLANs, VMs).

Ability to create test and deployment utilities using high-level languages/scripting, e.g., Python.

Familiarity with testing marine electronics systems, including radar, electronic chart systems, navigation aids, and steering controls.

Knowledge of naval systems integration standards and practices.

ISTQB Foundation Level certification.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
