Are you ready to be a key player in our Transport Planning team? If you're looking for an exciting opportunity, we have the perfect role for you!

In this dynamic role, you will lead and become an integral part of our Transport Planning team. You'll collaborate closely with dispatchers, schedulers, customer services, and distribution teams to ensure seamless communication. Together, we'll work harmoniously every day to achieve our shared goals.

This is an on-site role with core working hours from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Flexibility is essential, as there may be a need to adjust hours to meet business demands. As a Shift Manager, this role includes an on-call responsibility, requiring you to be available and on standby with your phone during certain periods.

Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate and lead each Dispatch team shift to ensure that tasks are completed in line with necessary timescales and daily activities contribute towards meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Managing interactions between customer services, distribution teams, sales teams and other stakeholders providing updates on events such as customer run outs, vehicle breakdowns and drivers' absenteeism to manage customer expectation.
  • Responsible for quick decision making to unforeseen changes in the pre agreed plan, making cost efficiencies decisions whilst maintaining customer expectation.
  • Complete daily administrative tasks, rotas, training, providing KPI reports and updates
  • Improve the master data used in Transport Planning processes to improve customer experience & efficiency of routes, proactively managing aborts and fails and driver de-brief information.
  • Make decisions on short term constraints requiring change, maintaining the balance between customer experience, operational efficiencies, and potential revenues through fulfilled orders.
  • Contribute towards our Fulfilment Safety agenda in reducing the risk to our drivers leading safety first in interactions with colleagues and engaging with the Fulfilment Safety Now Forum and Dispatch, and wider Transport Planning, Safety Champion.

As such we would like you to have/be:

  • A clear communicator, comfortable using different communication platforms, utilising this to collaborate and influence different stakeholders, drivers, site leaders, customer experience teams & senior management.
  • A process driven individual able to recognise potential improvements to processes and track outputs and able to drive forward these changes to support the overall vision for transport planning.
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to deliver high levels of customer experience via effective route planning and team work.
  • Direct line management for 4-5 individuals daily, alongside shift supervision for circa 10-15 individuals per shifts.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment, with ability to make quick decisions balancing efficiency and customer experience.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills – you will be responsible for the daily shift leadership to ensure the day’s tasks stay on track and broader expectations are managed. You will also have line manager responsibility for members of the Dispatch team.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage administrative tasks including, payroll rotas, holiday approval, training, performance management.
  • A working knowledge of importance of safety in the organization.
  • A self-motivated individual able to work alone and part of a team with ability to evaluate process performance and contribution.
  • Full flexibility with 'on call' element required to cover extended hours as per the needs of the business.
  • Must have experience in SAP and Paragon. Salesforce, Power Bi and Tru Tak desirable.
