Macildowie are delighted to be partnering with South Kesteven District Council to recruit for a Visiting Officer. This pivotal role involves ensuring the efficient and effective collection of Council Tax and Business Rates through hands-on visits and inspections across the district.

Reporting into the Income Recovery Team Leader, this role will see you travel across the region (in a fully expensed pool car) engaging with businesses and domestic properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Visit and inspect domestic and commercial properties to gather accurate information for the collection of Council Tax and Business Rates.
  • Inspect empty properties and gather relevant details from new occupants regarding ownership and key changes, in line with the ongoing programme of reviews.
  • Document and photograph properties during visits to ensure accurate records.
  • Conduct site visits and monitor property changes, updating council records as required.
  • Collect and record details on changes to occupied premises when necessary.
  • Undertake visits to domestic properties subject to disabled relief and gather all relevant evidence.
  • Work with information from Building Control and Planning, updating records for new builds and changes weekly.
  • Raise reports to the Valuation Office Agency for new builds, property alterations (e.g., extensions, demolitions, mergers), and process Valuation Office schedules in a timely manner.
  • Issue completion certificates for newly constructed buildings, ensuring all evidence is gathered and properly recorded.
  • Maintain an accurate database, ensuring property information is up to date following each visit.

Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone with excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work independently. Previous experience in property inspections or a related field would be an advantage but IS NOT essential as full training will be provided.

You will be required to drive and as such should possess a full driving license and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of individuals.
