Taskmaster Resources is proud to recruit on behalf of our NHS client in Grantham for a passionate and dedicated Chef to join their catering team. In this vital role, you will prepare, cook, and serve nutritious meals for patients, staff, visitors, and external contracts. As a valued team member, youll play an essential role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of food service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation and Service: Responsible for the preparation, cooking, chilling, freezing, and serving of various food items, including hot meals, sandwiches, salads, and light snacks.
  • Stock and Cost Management: Control food production processes to reduce waste and costs; manage stock levels and place orders as needed.
  • Quality Control and Compliance: Follow food hygiene and safety regulations, including HACCP, COSHH, and Health and Safety standards.
  • Training and Development: Supervise, train, and support Assistant Chefs in the kitchen; participate in recipe development and product evaluation.
  • Customer Service: Engage with customers in a positive and helpful manner, enhancing the catering experience through product knowledge and presentation.
  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a supportive and respectful environment.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for food preparation.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Good sensory judgment for assessing food quality and presentation.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and City and Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ3 equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a catering environment with a strong commitment to customer care.
