Are you an experienced teaching assistant with a background in supporting young people with autism and challenging behaviours? Would you like to support young people with social, emotional and mental health needs?

Long-term futures are proud to work with a Grantham (NG31) based specialist school for SEMH pupils. This school provides holistic, creative and bespoke curriculums tailored to meet the academic and social needs of their pupils.

Due to the location of this role, you must have a driving license with access to your own vehicle as public transport is not reliable.

What will my role involve?

  • You will actively support the classroom teacher in providing tailored educational support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Focusing on individualised interventions, you will help to manage challenging behaviours and promote a positive learning environment for all pupils.
  • You'll provide 1:1 or small group support to students that have emotional and/or behavioural challenges, assisting with their classroom tasks and managing disruptive behaviour.

How can I be successful?

  • You will need to be a resilient and strong role model, and have good classroom and behaviour management.
  • Ideally you will have prior SEMH experience, including knowledge of common challenges including but not limited to anxiety, depression and ADHD.
  • In addition to this, you'll have a good grasp of different behavioural management techniques and de-escalation techniques.
