Blackstone Education are currently working with a School based in West Grantham who are recruiting for a Attendance and Family Liaison Office.

37 hrs, Term Time Only

Hay Band A, Point 23 – 28 £33,366 – £37,938 (pro rata £28,949 - £32,915)

Purpose of Job:

To  promote and enable high levels of attendance and a positive attendance and punctuality culture and, where necessary, enforce the academy attendance (or alternative education provision)

To forge the link between child protection, in-school behaviour and poor attendance.

To take on responsibilities for the day to day safeguarding practices (including child protection) by attending meetings, writing reports, forming links with families and pupils and co-operating with other agencies

Provide strategic leadership of strategies to improve attendance and punctuality across the Academy;

To analyse attendance data, providing detailed reports, and suggested interventions

Work alongside external agencies, providing the best provision for every child, to ensure improved attendance;

Support students in achieving their full academic potential;

Identifying and supporting families with parenting, financial and social issues/needs;

Building good relationships with families and developing links within the wider community for the benefit of families and school;

To work alongside our pastoral and SEND team to overcome barriers to attend in school and to achieve well.

To act a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

Main Responsibilities Tasks and Duties:

  1. To liaise with Members of the Pastoral Team, Teaching staff, Teaching Assistants, and SLT to develop systems for monitoring and promoting high levels of attendance and punctuality
  2. To engage with and support the rewards process for high levels of attendance and punctuality
  3. Undertake safeguarding duties to support the most vulnerable students
  4. To liaise with the Senco/Assistant Senco to support students with learning difficulties
  5. To undertake home visits as required
  6. To work closely with outside agencies in order to support children/students/families to achieve high levels of attendance
  7. To contribute to setting challenging targets for improved attendance and punctuality levels and the implementation of strategies designed to achieve these targets
  8. To produce a weekly/1/2 termly analysis of all aspects of attendance data and to respond to data trends
  9. To organise attendance panel hearings with families, Senior Staff and Governors as required
  10. To ensure and maintain effective communication with the Governing Body, senior staff and teachers.  To be competent in advising and assisting them to develop and implement appropriate attendance policies and practices
  11. To establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and staff within Local Authority services, the voluntary sector and a range of other professional groups
  12. To prepare and recommend legal proceedings in cases of irregular attendance at school, and where children have been illegally involved in employment or entertainment and to attend court where necessary
  13. To prioritise and manage complex and multi-faceted cases involving the irregular school attendance of children and young people who are vulnerable and /or disadvantaged in relation to education opportunity
  14. To be responsible for the creation of efficient record systems to support good attendance
  15. To develop links within the local community, and to lead on community projects
  16. To offer practical support to parents, this may include; financial issues, social issues/ needs, parenting support
  17. To work with the Pastoral Team and SLT to improve parental engagement within school
  18. To work directly with children to support their social and emotional needs
  19. To form strong relationships with families

Knowledge and Skills:

To ensure and maintain effective communication with the Governing Body, senior staff and teachers.  To be competent in advising and assisting them to develop and implement appropriate attendance policies and practices

To establish and Successful experience working with children in an education, health or social care environment

Educated to GCSE at or above grade C or equivalent in English and Maths

Appropriate professional qualifications

Good working knowledge of policies relating to Attendance and Child Protection

Good working knowledge of legislation

Ability to use IT systems to support the analysis of data

Ability to use clear language to communicate information unambiguously

Ability to listen effectively

Ability to write detailed reports

Ability to negotiate effectively with adults and children and to exercise influence

Overcome communication barriers with children and adults

Demonstrate a good understanding and support the differences in children and adults and respond appropriatelymaintain effective working relationships with managers and staff within Local Authority services, the voluntary sector and a range of other professional groups
