Staff Coach

Location: Grantham

Hours: 38 Hours per week

Salary: £26,629 PA

Working closely and as part of the North Division you will ensure that the people we support have the highest standards of care and support through effective supervision of our staff. You will coach the team to ensure quality standards are maintained and that support is delivered in a person-centred way at all times. To be a champion for exceptional care and support; including a person-centred ethos in every aspect of the role.

Who are Ambient Support?

Ambient Support, a registered UK charity with over 25 years' experience in providing care and support services for older people, people with mental health needs and people with learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities of our Staff Coach:

* Lead, develop, empower, and engage our teams to do their very best work and create an environment and culture that promotes Ambient Support as a great place to work

* To coach and supervise support staff (a minimum of six sessions per year, one of which can be the appraisal) in the following ways.

1. Practice observations and giving staff detailed feedback

2. Formal supervision sessions

3. On the job coaching and feedback

4. Group supervisions were appropriate

5. Ensure that each support worker has an annual appraisal

* Ensure that clear records are keep of supervisions and the central log is completed to ensure we are meeting the standards set by CQC

* Chairing monthly team meetings in each service

* Lead on support workers inductions in line with Ambient's policy

* Signing off inductions for support workers

* Probation completion meetings for support workers

* To embed the service model associated with the people we support i.e., active support

* Support bank staff to ensure they are developed in their roles

* Interviewing potential new support staff

* To be solution focused and work through any barriers and challenges to ensure the successful role

* Ability to work flexibly including evening and weekends when necessary, so that support staff who work out of office hours receive the same amount of supervision and support

* Taking an active role in the shared on-call for the Division.

Skills and attributes of our Staff Coach

* Care Certificate, a Diploma in Health and Social Care or related qualification. Level 3 QCF or willingness to undertake.

* Significant experience of supporting people with a learning disability or mental health issue and working in partnership with families and significant others.

* An awareness and understanding or diversity issues, including non-discriminatory practice.

* Literacy skills (for report writing), verbal skills (for communication)

* Experience of managing a care or support related service

* A commitment to delivering person centred approaches personalised support

* Can identify innovative practice and share learning effectively with colleagues

* Full Driving Licence

* Flexible, adaptable, and willing to face up to changing circumstances and new opportunities

* Highly self-motivated, proactive and motivated towards excellence and improvement

* Ability to work on own initiative and to established deadlines

* Ability to evaluate information, assess risks, identify concerns and make recommendations
