GSL Education ‘Lincolnshire Branch’ are presently working with an astounding SEN-based school in Grantham that caters to students with special educational needs and is looking to hire a qualified SEN teaching assistant. This position provides a distinctive opportunity to significantly influence the lives of students with special educational needs.

The Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will assume a vital role in aiding students with special educational needs, assisting them in surmounting learning obstacles and attaining their academic objectives. This role necessitates close collaboration with students, educators and support staff to foster a positive and inclusive educational environment.

Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide individual and group support to students with SEN, helping them engage with their learning and manage their emotions and behaviour.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and adapting materials and strategies to meet the specific needs of SEN students.
  • Track and report on the progress of students, identifying areas for improvement and celebrating their achievements.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies, promoting positive behaviour and addressing any challenges appropriately.
  • Offer emotional support and guidance to students, helping them to develop coping strategies and build resilience.
  • Maintain regular communication with teachers, parents and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting students.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working with students with SEN.
  • Possess relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or a related field is a plus.
  • Be patient, empathetic and understanding approach to working with students.
  • Have excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage challenging situations effectively.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
