YourTeaching Ltd are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team at a supportive and inclusive school in Gravesend, Kent. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them thrive in their educational journey.

About the Role:

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with students who have a variety of additional learning needs, including autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and emotional or behavioural difficulties. You will provide tailored support in and outside of the classroom, helping students to engage with their learning, develop life skills, and reach their full potential. Your role will be integral in ensuring that every child receives the support they need to succeed in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN, both in and outside the classroom.
  • Assist with the delivery of personalised learning plans (IEPs) to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Help students with academic tasks, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Support students with personal care and mobility if required.
  • Assist in managing student behaviour using positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment where students feel valued and respected.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, encouraging their confidence and independence.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure effective communication and the best outcomes for students.

About You:

  • A genuine passion for working with children with Special Educational Needs.
  • Previous experience supporting students with SEN, either in a school or other educational setting, is desirable.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive, flexible attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • An understanding of various SEN, including autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience working with students with autism or emotional/behavioural difficulties.
  • A First Aid qualification (or willingness to undergo training) is beneficial.
