Thurrock Council is on a major change journey and is looking for people to help in the delivery of this. Following the Council being put into intervention in 2022 a vast amount of work has already been successfully undertaken to ensure the Council is back on track and moving towards financial stability, but there is more to do.
The Council is currently recruiting to a number of roles across the finance team to help drive the Councils new Corporate Plan 'A Fresh Start for Thurrock’, which sets out how they will operate over the next five years as it recovers and rebuilds trust with residents and communities. The finance team will play a hugely important role in securing the Councils future.
There are 3 Finance Manager roles being recruited across the Strategic and Corporate Finance Team.
The Finance Manager Financial Reporting (MTFS) reports into the Head of Financial Strategy and Planning, this role will play a key part in modelling and tracking our Medium-Term Financial Strategy. The role is pivotal in terms of budget strategy, and holds several financial models to inform our position, tying this back to our present and future capital direction requirement as we move towards financial recovery.
The Finance Manager Treasury reports into the Head of Financial Strategy and Planning, this role is responsible for the delivery of our Treasury Management Strategy. The main function is to deliver effective and robust daily treasury management and planning, and provision of regular updates and reports to the S151. The treasury function is a vital component of our financial management in terms of our cash flow requirement to inform our funding model.The Finance Manager Financial Reporting (Close Down) Reports into the Chief Accountant, this role provides support for the closure of accounts and notes to the accounts. The postholder is responsible for technical updates and audit preparation, including working with external auditors and responding to their queries. The role involves a lot of analysis and solving queries, particularly related to our divestments and the correct accounting treatment.
To be suitable for any of these roles you should be fully qualified with previous experience to any of the following: technical accounting, working on the production of statutory accounts, financial reporting or treasury accountant. Previous experience within the public sector is desirable but not essential.
