Job Purpose

As a Personal Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a client portfolio, ensuring exceptional service delivery across both compliance and advisory work. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of c.280 personal tax clients
  • Leading the preparation and review of personal tax returns (c.80% compliance)
  • Providing tailored advisory services, including capital gains tax planning and other ad hoc tax matters (c.20% advisory)
  • Ensuring tax compliance and deadlines are met for all clients
  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients, addressing queries, and offering proactive solutions
  • Identifying tax planning opportunities to add value to clients
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members to foster professional development
  • Keeping up to date with personal tax legislation and advising clients on relevant changes

  • Significant experience in personal tax management, ideally in a practice environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance and advisory work
  • Proven experience managing a large portfolio of clients
  • Excellent client relationship skills, with a proactive and solutions-driven approach
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills to support junior team members
  • A recognised tax qualification (such as ATT, CTA) is advantageous but not essential with relevant experience
