Job

  • Give technical expertise to all construction & mechanical scope of projects,from design through to commissioning: including design, procurement, installation supervision, final inspection and validation of new installations and equipment
  • Developing scope and costs for capital projects while supporting the overall project team with larger capital projects.
  • Working with stakeholders to ensure the requirements are compliant
  • Safety, Quality & Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with safety regulations and standards (e.g., IEC, OSHA) and proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
  • Preparing scope of work enquiries and sharing with purchasing
  • Completing technical Best Value Option Analysis on which supplier to choose in the case of multiple bids.
  • Leading and participating in design reviews.
  • Managing mechanical construction for the project including writing work permits and supervision in terms of safety & quality of execution
  • Conducting safety briefings
  • Coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials & adherence to project timelines.
  • Preparing a checklist to confirm quality, functional & operational checks for newly installed equipment & executing the final checks to confirm that the equipment installed is functioning as per design requirements.
  • Ensuring any post start-up issues are maintained in a checklist and addressed with urgency.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or NVQ qualification in engineering.
  • 5+ Experience in managing projects/construction in a Process/FMCG environment.
  • Ordinary National Certificate (ONC) or Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Mechanical Engineering ATEX qualification or experience in working in an ATEX environment.
  • Construction design and drawing regulation qualification.
  • Understanding of European & UK welding standards required for fabrication & construction (ASME & NBIC).
  • Extensive onsite engineering experience of design and construction in a Surfactant Making Plant or a Chemical Industry environment.
  • Competent ability to produce technical (mechanical) drawings in Auto Cad, including GA's, Isometrics, P&ID's and 3D modelling for design and installation purposes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good communication skills
  • Collaboration skills to work across site
  • Project planning skills.
  • Self-driven coupled with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
