Legacy Strategies are currently looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of our specialist civil engineering client in Grays, Essex.

Full Time | Permanent

This role involves estimating and controlling costs for both small and large-scale projects across the UK, ensuring that all structures comply with legal and quality standards. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in every stage of project development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare internal commercial reports and other necessary documentation.
  • Develop valuations/applications for payment with supporting documents as per contract requirements.
  • Create cost reports for clients, ensuring all supporting documentation is contractually compliant.
  • Manage and prepare subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts, from requisition preparation to final account agreements, including monitoring and authorising subcontract payments.
  • Oversee contract administration, including change management, and maintain associated registers.
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering, and change.
  • Utilise the costing system efficiently.
  • Generate internal commercial reports and other necessary documentation.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant industry qualification.
  • Strong commercial acumen with knowledge of standard forms of contract and standard methods of measurement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present, negotiate, and persuade effectively.
  • Experience in the construction/engineering industry with a solid commercial background.
  • General civil engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
