Adore Recruitment is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join a local council as Grounds Maintenance & Street Cleaners in Thurrock. If you are passionate about contributing to a cleaner, safer, and more attractive community, we want to hear from you! As a Clean & Green Operative, you will play a vital role in maintaining public spaces for the enjoyment of all.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manual and mechanical street sweeping.
  • Litter picking, leaf clearance, and weed removal.
  • Graffiti, flyposting, and fly-tipping removal.
  • Emptying litter and dog waste bins.
  • Removal of dead animals and hazardous waste (e.g., needles or sharps).
  • Grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, and pruning.
  • Path edging, weed spraying (if certified), and providing arboriculture support.
  • Inspecting play equipment for safety and reporting any defects.
  • Maintaining equipment and vehicles:
  • Daily preparation and checks of tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Prompt reporting of defects or accidents.
  • Cleaning and securely storing equipment after use.

Keeping accurate records:

  • Completing timesheets, work logs, driver checks, and accident reports.
  • Using paper-based or digital systems as required.

Operating tools and machinery safely:

  • Using hand tools such as blowers, strimmer’s, hedge cutters, chainsaws, mowers, rotavators, and woodchippers.

Operating equipment only if trained or certified.

  • Always wearing provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience or a willingness to learn a variety of Clean & Green tasks.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive attitude and a commitment to maintaining high standards of work.
  • A Manual Driving Licence (preferred but not essential).
