Quality Inspector 

Quality Inspector role in Northampton, working for an innovative, industry respected and rapidly growing engineering and manufacturing business in the eMobility sector. With a reputation for excellence, recognised as leaders in the supply of Electric Vehicle and Fuel Cell System integration, Wiring Systems design and tier 1 manufacturing, operating across multiple sectors including automotive, motorsport, commercial vehicle, off-highway, rail, marine and aerospace.  A highly capable, diverse, and dynamic team, that offer a fun, fast-paced working environment with a strong commercial focus.

Manufacturing projects include low voltage harnesses and high voltage cable assemblies, power distribution units, vehicle controllers, and off-board test equipment from prototype through to series production. Within your role, you can be sure that your input directly contributes not only to the successful delivery of each project but also supports the success and growth of the business as a whole.

As a Quality Technician you will work closely with the manufacturing team to support the efficient and timely production of parts.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out product tests and thorough independent final inspection of finished assemblies to defined procedures, formally reporting all defects
  • Inspecting all components and all stages of the manufacturing process as required
  • Goods In Inspection
  • Responsible for checking, progressing, and collating accurate build and inspection records
  • Support and participate in process improvement activities
  • Alerting the Quality Manager of ongoing problems and delivering resolutions
  • Investigate any quality issues to identify root cause and raise appropriate corrective action paperwork and ensure issues are addressed and resolved
  • Ensuring all incidents of non-conformance are recorded
  • Control of Quarantine Area and Stock
  • Control of Calibrated Tools and equipment
  • Preparation of ISIR, inspection checklists and other required inspection documentation
  • Perform capability studies, Gage R&R and other QA functions as required for various projects and Customers

Education and Skills Required

5+ GCSEs - C and above

Min. 3 years’ experience in relevant role and industry

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in Quality Department
  • Experience of working in fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in use of MS Excel
  • Competent in using all other common Office 365 suite software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent in English

Skills preferred:

  • Experience of electrical systems / wire harness manufacturing or inspection
  • Experience in motorsport or automotive harness inspection
  • Experience of using Cirris tester
  • Understanding of System25 build assemblies
