Service Manager - Facilities Department
  • Job Type: Interim (3-6 months likely to be extended)
  • Location: Gorleston, Norfolk
  • Salary: Band 6 NHS £19.10 per hour plus holiday pay
  • Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week - 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday however there may need to be some flexibility in hours

We are seeking a Service Manager for the Facilities Department at this prestigious NHS Provider. This critical role involves the operational management and leadership of the Domestic Services, ensuring the delivery of high-standard, patient-facing services in accordance with NHS National Cleaning Standards 2025 and local IPAC requirements.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Domestic Services, ensuring efficient and safe service delivery that meets internal and national policies.
  • Maintain high cleaning standards across the facility to ensure patient safety.
  • Produce high-level reports and documentation to provide assurances to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and support a team of approximately 280 staff members, ensuring continuous service throughout the year.
  • Address and manage Stage 1 & 2 sickness review meetings to reduce service sickness rates and improve appraisal compliance and training KPIs.
  • Provide support to overwhelmed supervisors by offering direct managerial assistance and addressing additional demands placed on them.
  • Assist in budget monitoring by managing resources effectively and overseeing the performance of suppliers and products used within the service.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in operational management and leadership within a healthcare or similar setting.
  • Strong understanding of NHS standards and requirements related to facility management and patient safety.
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage large teams in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage staff and stakeholder relationships.
