Our Client is a very successful pharmaceutical manufacturing company. They are now seeking an HSE Manager. This position is a full-time permanent role and will be based in Great Yarmouth.

Job Purpose

  • An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Health, Safety and Environment Manager to join a highly successful and dynamic Pharmaceutical Manufacturing site in Great Yarmouth
  • Our Client is part of a group of companies and produces a wide variety of well-known medicines and healthcare products. As a rapidly expanding business they are looking for a highly motivated individual to support their safety-first culture and drive the development of their HSE systems and processes ensuring they are equipped to meet new challenges and opportunities
  • This position requires someone who can operate as a member of the senior management team, coaching and challenging as appropriate, to ensure the business continues to meet their targets and objectives. The incumbent will be expected to function with a high level of effectiveness and self-direction aligning with the organisations plans, strategies and objectives.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Providing support to production leadership in the execution of their EHS responsibilities
  • Ensuring the HSE strategy is maintained, effective, and continuously improved
  • Developing, maintaining, improving, and delivering the HSE policy and procedures with focussing on prevention and risk reduction
  • Maintaining the Legal Register, taking appropriate action to ensure compliance with applicable legislation
  • Responsibility for monitoring changes and trends in HSE areas
  • Advising and supporting plant management in the HSE policy (goals, year plan and reviews)
  • Analysing data and reports as necessary for corrective / preventive actions
  • Being pro-active in implementing initiatives and identifying gaps
  • Developing HSE campaigns and training to promote awareness and increase compliance
  • Organising self-assessments / audits and recommending improvements
  • Participating actively in investigation of incidents, and occupational illnesses
  • Establishing and maintaining an effective Environmental Compliance process
  • Establishing and maintaining effective Industrial Hygiene programs and systems.
  • Coordination of HSE training (internal and external)
  • Maintaining the Health surveillance programme
  • Active member of the Group HSE Forum

Qualifications / Experience

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • A proven track record in leading HSE in a manufacturing environment - in particular, a process environment where CoSHH and DSEAR are relevant
  • Ability to develop and deliver an Environmental Management System
  • Experienced in risk assessment & UK legal requirements
  • Proven change-agent and leadership qualities to operate on site and the within the wider Group
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organisation
