We are looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for chasing overdue accounts for a ledger of approximately 500 accounts and managing debt collection of around £1.5 million a month. This role requires establishing strong relationships both internally and externally to ensure effective debt collection and to provide excellent customer service.
Day to Day of the role:- Contribute to the company’s Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Socio-Environmental/Energy values.
- Comply with all regulatory and legal requirements within the business.
- Achieve all KPIs and annual goals set, including objectives.
- Chase all overdue accounts and monitor payment patterns to minimise potential bad debt and maximise cash collection.
- Respond to all customer email and telephone enquiries/queries.
- Liaise with sales/customer services and purchase ledger to resolve stock and pricing issues.
- Negotiate payment plans and restrict supply of goods when necessary.
- General Sales Ledger Accounts Administration, including responding to copy requests, updating account contacts, checking customer credit ratings, applying credit terms, and updating customer invoice portal platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft tools, especially Outlook and Excel.
- GCSE pass in Math and English language.
- AAT or equivalent working experience.
- Knowledge of filing systems and proficiency in the English language.
- Direct experience as a Credit Controller with a solid finance background.
- Experience with EDI (portals) for invoice processing.
- Good numeracy skills and the ability to work accurately in a busy environment.
- An analytical mind with the ability to work well under pressure and multitask.
- Exceptional attention to detail, highly organised, and a ‘completer-finisher’.

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
