Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated SLD Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will support our students with severe learning disabilities (SLD), assisting with their personal care, communication needs, and educational development. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities for the SLD Teaching Assistant:

  • Supporting students with SLD in a classroom setting and during individual activities
  • Assisting with personal care needs, including feeding, dressing, and toileting, where required
  • Working closely with teachers to implement tailored learning programs and interventions
  • Supporting communication and social skills development for students with complex needs
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Assisting with physical and sensory activities that aid learning and development

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with students with severe learning disabilities (SLD) or similar needs
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with students
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate well with staff, students, and families
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt to a variety of situations
  • Relevant qualifications or training (e.g., NVQ in Special Educational Needs, or experience in a similar role) are desirable, but not essential
