The Role:

As the Engineering Manager - Sonobuoy, you will work closely with key stakeholders including the International Sonobuoys Programmes Director, Sonobuoys System Design Authority, and the Sonobuoys Project Manager. In this senior role, you'll oversee engineering activities, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You'll lead a multi-disciplinary team, driving innovation and excellence across a portfolio that spans new product development, in-service support, and products already in production.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in sonar or acoustics, with strong work package management expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of all engineering activities for the sonobuoy portfolio.
  • Ensure solutions meet requirements and are fit for purpose.
  • Oversee engineering projects through all phases, from bid to production readiness.
  • Manage dependencies, risks, opportunities, and assumptions in the engineering plans.
  • Foster team growth through coaching and mentoring.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Strong background in sonar, acoustics, or a related field.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex engineering projects.
  • Proven experience in work breakdown structures and delivery strategies.
  • Familiarity with Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and systems engineering concepts.
  • Ability to manage engineering estimates and deliver against challenging timelines.
  • Eligible for Security Check (SC) clearance.
