Trainee Machine Setter
Greenford, West London
Starting salary £22,000 rising to £28,000 once fully trained

We’re working in partnership with a global packaging business based in West London who are currently looking to add a trainee to their production department.
This person will learn everything they need to know from the ground up in how to set and operate a variety of print finishing equipment used within the production process, and would suit someone who is eager to start a career in the industry – perhaps someone who has recently finished an apprenticeship or has worked in a busy FMCG production environment themselves, on or around machinery, and is familiar with what it takes to work in a fast paced environment.

This is a great opportunity for someone to kickstart their career in a business who offer genuine opportunities for growth and progression. Many of the team started off in more junior roles like this and have progressed over the years, so you will be in the safe guidance of highly competent and experienced peers.

The Role
- Learn how to set, operate, and maintain a variety of equipment with the purpose of maximising output
- Understand and interpret job tickets to set machines accordingly
- Assist in general routine maintenance of folding machines and other finishing equipment, working closely with senior management and engineering teams to ensure minimum downtime
- Raise IT support tickets or maintenance tasks if there are problems with the machines
- To resolve minor running issues i.e. blockages and restarting the process when it is safe to do so

The Person
- Experience of working in manufacturing is highly advantageous
- Some level of mechanical competence is highly advantageous (i.e worked as a machine setter/operator)
- Computer literate with good numerical understanding
- Good English language skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Happy to work in a fast-paced factory environment, on your feet and with your hands
- Ability to problem solve and show initiative

Shifts & Salary
During training you will work on permanent day shifts, but once you are a competent machine setter you will be expected to follow the traditional shift pattern of the business which is continental style, so some flexibility is required. If you’re unable to commit to working on a shift pattern following training, sadly this role will not be right for you.

Starting salary is £22,000, rising to £28,000 once fully trained, increasing further once going onto the shift pattern.

You will also have 26 days holidays plus Bank Holidays, life assurance, access to a private healthcare scheme, company pension, cycle to work scheme, and much more.
