Deputy Manager Residential Children's Home

Salary: Up to £40,000

Sleep-in paid at £50.

Location: Greenford, UB6

Hours 37.5 hours per week to 40 hours per week, Full Time Hours

Must show flexibility with working hours Day shifts, night shifts and some weekends.

We would consider candidates ready to move up from Team Leader / Senior roles.

Ofsted compliance children's home. Working with 11-18 age group.

Support for children / young people with anti-social behaviour/ EBD-Emotional Behaviour Disorder

Supported Accommodation / Residential home setting.

We are currently seeking a Deputy Manager who has the ability to build and maintain rapport with clients while providing an exceptional level of service. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining supervision and care of children and will be responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day functions within the home. You must have experience in working in a Residential Children's Home setting / Supported accommodation setting.

Working as a Children's Home Deputy Manager, you must be willing to go above and beyond for the children and young people, ensuring that they have an experience of childhood that they can reflect upon and carry with them into adulthood. Your team must be driven by a shared ambition to ensure that the children and young people have an experience of childhood that they deserve, one filled with fun, laughter, friendship and discovery.

Responsibilities

To assist the Registered Manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose. To deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager. To support and manage the staff to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people.To undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate. To be the responsible person in managing child protection concerns and complaints. To work in partnership with other professionals to achieve optimum outcomes for young people.To offer supervision and support to other staff in line with Quality Standards

Candidates will have

1-2 years experience in Management with young people in Residential setting

A supportive nature towards the young people and staff

A no nonsense attitude towards bad practice

Able to work and manage a team/ able to bring the best out of Team

Creative person

Counselling skills / Training skills

Recruitment experience

Secondary education with a good standard of literacy and numeracy

Diploma L3 Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

Willingness to complete Diploma L5 L&M in H&SC

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of CHR 2015 and the QS

Awareness of Equal Opportunities/ADP issues

Knowledge of the Children Act and other relevant legislation

Ability to manage teams effectively

Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing

Understanding the needs of looked-after children including managing challenging behaviour

To manage a staff team through:

Providing managerial control and direction in relation to staff duties and responsibilities

Assist with the recruitment and retention of staff including induction training for new staffinto the home

Supervision of new starters during their probationary period

Develop a management style that balances the need to exercise control and give direction with the need to offer staff the opportunity for decision making

Taking responsibility for planning shifts and ensuring their smooth running when on duty

Duties & Responsibilities

To meet the needs of children through:

Ensuring that each young person has an allocated key worker

Ensuring that each member of staff is aware of each childs relevant plans and their responsibilities for its implementation

Carrying out the role of on-call manager to provide OOH support for the home, on a rota basis

Attending childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve best outcomes for young people

Undertaking direct work with young people and acting as an appropriate role model

Assist in developing systems in which young people are consulted about the quality of care they receive

Maintaining accurate written records to record information and enable regular monitoring and evaluation to take place

Working in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.

Chairing childrens meetings and facilitating consultation with young people generally

Acting as an appropriate adult

To manage a staff team through:

Providing managerial control and direction in relation to staff duties and responsibilities

Assist with the recruitment and retention of staff including induction training for new staff into the home

Supervision of new starters during their probationary period

Develop a management style that balances the need to exercise control and give direction with the need to offer staff the opportunity for decision making

Taking responsibility for planning shifts and ensuring their smooth running when on duty

Providing consultation and informal advice and support to staff in relation to day to day matters

Offering 1:1 supervision to staff in line with Quality Standards

Identifying and progressing individual training and development needs of staff in the context of their personnel development plans

Undertaking annual appraisal of staff

Addressing issues concerning conduct and competence of staff

Conduct management investigations when required

Assist the Registered Manager in promoting personal and professional development through the appropriate delegation of duties and responsibilities

Contributing to the team and staff meetings to facilitate good communication and staff development

Ensuring staff work within the Homes policies, procedures and Quality Standards requirements

Ensuring that there are appropriate and adequate reporting and recording systems in place to comply with Quality Standards

Attending to all administration issues in the Home and the provision of weekly management information reports

General responsibilities:

To assist the Registered Manager in the implementation of all aspects of the Statement of Purpose

Contribute to the devising, implementing and evaluation of changes, with the involvement of front line staff, to continually improve services, systems and standards, in conjunction with the Registered Manager and the Senior

Management team

To deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager

To drive company vehicles subject to policies and procedures

To work on a rota basis according to the needs of young people

To ensure that resources are allocated appropriately, and financial records are accurately maintained

To receive supervision in line with the Quality Standards and to take responsibility for personal development and progress of individual training needs

To carry out all other reasonable tasks as directed by the Registered Manager.
