SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team at a special educational needs (SEN) school in Ealing. This role involves working with primary-aged children who have severe learning difficulties, autism, high sensory needs, and challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will have a passion for making a difference in the lives of children with SEN.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide tailored support to primary-aged students with a range of SEN.
  • Work closely with the classroom teacher to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Assist with the development and delivery of engaging and accessible learning activities.
  • Support students with high sensory needs by creating a safe and stimulating environment.
  • Manage challenging behaviour effectively and with sensitivity.
  • Encourage independence and social integration among students.
  • Monitor and record students’ progress, reporting back to teachers and parents as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience working with children with severe learning difficulties, autism, high sensory needs, and challenging behaviour.
  • Understanding of the primary education system and SEN framework.
  • Ability to build rapport with children and adapt to individual needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a resilient approach to challenging situations.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
