We are working with a Fabrications business who provide an on-site welding and cutting service to various construction projects. They work on major multi-storey developments, Rail projects, bridges, dismantling, temporary works, and propping etc.
Advance Steel/Tekla Detailer Job Description:
The Structural Steel Detailer is responsible for creating 3D models, fabrication drawings, and NC files for workshop production based on structural steel requirements for commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects. This role involves collaborating with structural engineers to ensure technical specifications are clearly defined and accurate for fabrication and installation. The Detailer also will conduct surveys to capture all necessary details of new and existing structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Create 3D models and detailed drawings of buildings, structures, and associated items using Advance Steel/Tekla software, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Prepare detailed general arrangement and site installation drawings.
- Generate fabrication drawings to enable accurate manufacturing.
- Compile lists for manufacturing and purchasing, including bolt lists.
- Support the workshop in placing material orders with suppliers.
- Liaise with architects, engineers, clients, and the sales team.
- Collaborate with structural engineers, production, and installation teams.
- Conduct site surveys as required.
- Manage RFIs and site queries.
- Assist the workshop with drawing-related queries.
- Prepare drawing registers and issue arrangement drawings, parts, and fixing lists.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in structural steel detailing in the UK.
- Proficiency in using Advance Steel/Tekla software.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and gather all necessary details to produce accurate drawings.
- Confidence in working with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
