Welder-Fabricator (Workshop)
Structural Steel Welder/Fabricator Job Description: Takes structural steel requirements for commercial, residential and infrastructure projects from fabrication drawings, engineer drawings and verbal instructions to weld and fabricate steelwork.
Fabricates a broad range of items, from small components to large structural elements for buildings and bridges, using the latest manual welding processes and procedures. Understands and operates by current safety standards and prioritises safe working and a high quality of finish in all aspects of production.
Structural Steel Welder/Fabricator Duties:
- Follow written and verbal instructions, as well as technical drawing details and specifications, to fabricate structural steelwork
- Liaise with supervisors and steel detailers to resolve any queries
- Complete any documentation required, based on current as well as future standards, to ensure all items produced comply with legal requirements, industry requirements and company policies.
- Use welding techniques as determined by the project specification, to include MIG, TIG and MMA
- Operate workshop machinery as required, to include gas cutting tools, press brake and plasma cutter
- Adhere to deadlines for completion of work, whilst maintaining quality of finish and safe working practices at all times

Skills and Qualifications:
- CSCS
- Welder qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience of welding and fabricating structural steel in the UK, using all current techniques and standards, on material up to 50mm
- Attention to detail and takes pride in producing high-quality work
- Confident in working independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills
- Punctual, reliable and flexible
- Able to work to tight deadlines
