Scope of work
- To install 1 x 15U 600mm x 500mm wall mounted communications cabinet with horizontal PDU, this cabinet will be located on the wall in a cupboard. Power and network points previously installed
- To install 30 x Cat5e network points.
- These points will be wired from the new communications cabinet in the walk-in cupboard.
- To install approximately 60 metres black 50mm x 50mm dado trunking run along the walls behind the machines, surface back boxes will sit directly above the trunking and will house the network points and faceplates.
Suggested Skills
- Ability to securely mount a 15U 600mm x 500mm wall-mounted cabinet, ensuring it is level and properly anchored to the wall.
- Knowledge of weight distribution and load-bearing capacity of walls to ensure safe installation.
- Familiarity with Power Distribution Units (PDU) and cable management within the cabinet.
- Proficiency in Cat5e cable installation, termination, and testing.
- Ability to use punch-down tools to terminate cables onto patch panels and wall-mounted network outlets.
- Understanding of color-coding standards (TIA/EIA-568A/B) for proper wiring.
- Use of cable testers and certification tools to verify correct installation and performance.
- Experience in pulling and routing 30 Cat5e network cables efficiently from the new communications cabinet.
- Ability to label, bundle, and secure cables neatly for future maintenance.
- Knowledge of bend radius and cable length limitations to prevent signal degradation.
- Skills in measuring, cutting, and securely installing 50mm x 50mm dado trunking along walls.
- Experience with aligning and fixing surface-mounted backboxes above the trunking for network faceplates.
- Ability to neatly route cables within trunking while ensuring accessibility and minimizing physical stress on cables.
- Familiarity with tools like drills, spirit levels, saws, and screwdrivers for cabinet and trunking installation.
- Awareness of basic health & safety regulations, including safe handling of tools and materials.
- Ability to work in a tidy and organized manner, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding environment.
- Experience in testing all network points after installation using a LAN tester or Fluke cable tester.
- Ability to troubleshoot cable continuity issues, miswiring, or faulty terminations.
