MRD Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Graduate Software Engineer, based in Greenock on behalf of our leading Engineering client. The successful Graduate Software Engineer, based in Greenock will report directly to the IT Manager.

As a member of the Global IT team, the successful Graduate Software Engineer will have the opportunity to work with our planning teams on metrics, projects and several key operation systems.

This role is based 5 days a week on-site, in Greenock.

The Graduate Software Engineer Opportunity, based in Greenock:

  • Gain experience in a fast-paced IT environment driving supply chain digital transformation.
  • Work with a set of highly motivated individuals driving business decision-making with the use of the right cutting-edge technology.
  • Present to management with a focus on data analysis and insights.
  • Apply your knowledge from coursework.
  • Utilize data analysis and statistical skills on various supply chain projects and activities.
  • Work with Global teams to understand the problem and partner on providing solutions.
  • Perform data analysis activities for special projects.
  • Analyse data and provide actionable insights that drive decisions.
  • Automate and streamline data gathering and reporting methodologies
  • Present results to the leadership team to explain your analysis findings
  • Ability to tell stories using data

Key Education/Knowledge/Skills for the Graduate Software Engineer, based in Greenock:

  • The successful candidate will have a BSc (First or 2:1) or MSc in Software Engineering or Computing Applications Development.
  • Experience using data analysis languages and technologies.
  • Experience/ Coursework in machine learning (supervised and unsupervised), mathematics, statistics, computer applications, software engineering and networking.
  • Ability to query data sources directly using SQL-like query language from data warehouse.
  • Ability to develop dashboards using curated data.
  • Understand business vision and ability to support strategy and business teams.
  • Passion for developing efficient, testable, and scalable analytics algorithms.
  • Familiar with big data analytics tools and distributed systems
  • Ability to contribute to machine learning modelling and design and develop advanced prototypes.
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and a professional environment.
