Location: Gretna, DG16
Shifts: Monday - Friday 14:00-20:30 including a 30min break
Pay Rate: 11.44
Manpower is pleased to be recruiting on behalf of our client based in Gretna for a Loading Bay Operative to join their team on a temporary basis!
Key responsibilities may include:
- Loading and unloading packages: Manually lifting and transferring packages between delivery vehicles and the loading bay, using appropriate handling techniques to prevent damage.
- Package scanning and sorting: Accurately scanning package barcodes to record movement and sort packages according to destination using designated sorting systems.
- Vehicle documentation: Checking delivery manifests against loaded packages to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Maintaining safety standards: Adhering to safety procedures including proper lifting techniques, wearing safety gear, and reporting any hazards or potential issues.
- Physical demands: Regularly lifting and moving heavy packages throughout the shift.
- Operating warehouse equipment: May operate pallet jacks or other material handling equipment depending on the facility.
- Maintaining cleanliness: Keeping the loading bay area clean and organised.
Skills and qualifications:
- Attention to detail: Accurate scanning and data entry skills to ensure package tracking.
- Basic computer literacy: Familiar with warehouse management systems for scanning and data entry.
- Teamwork: Coordinating with other loading bay operatives and drivers to efficiently manage package flow.
- Flexibility: Ability to work varying shifts and adapt to changing workload demands.
