What is required to be a successful Loading Shovel Driver?
We have excellent opportunities for Loading Shovel Drivers new into their career and experienced operators
- A valid Loading Shovel Licence is highly desirable however in-house and out of date licences can be refreshed
- Previous experience operating machinery and other heavy plant is highly desirable
- Experience working within a port environment is highly desirable however not essential
- Extremely health and safety aware
- Previous experience working in a similar role such as Loading Shovel Driver, Heavy Plant Driver, Payloader Driver, Stevedore is highly desirable
- Previous experience driving counterbalance forklift is advantageous
- Full UK Driving licence is essential
What does working as a Loading Shovel Driver on the port involve?
The port operations operate 24/7 working with different commodities making no two days the same! We are able to offer various roles inclusive of flexi working and permanent inclusive of working with Sheds, Discharging vessels and working within Plant environments.
- Operating a Loading Shovel to load and unload lorries
- Operating hoppers and other heavy machinery
- Using attachments such as bucket, blade and spike
- Supporting the safe discharge of vessels
- Operating other equipment such as forklifts as required
