JOB: Transport Controller

LOCATION: Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire

STATUS: Permanent, full time

SALARY: up to £35k plus benefits

HOURS: Monday to Friday - rotating shifts (most likely 6-2; 2-10)

My client, a well respected company offering great long-term career opportunities, is looking to recruit a full time, permanent Transport Controller.

With a CPC qualification, you are already in this kind of role, or have undertaken and enjoyed this role previously.

Reporting to the Regional Transport Manager, you will be well organised and have sound geographical knowledge. You will have an ability to multi-task and prioritise work.

You will need good IT skills and be able to use MS Office proficiently. You will also have the ability to pick up and adapt to new software and automotive operating systems.

In this varied, busy and interesting role you will be providing support to their logistics customers with an efficient and reliable service whilst at all times organising the workload to reflect maximum utilisation of company resources.

You will be working within the company procedure and policy requirements.

Your responsibilities:

  • Communicate with colleagues and customers in a professional courteous and efficient manner, maintaining a professional and efficient approach at all times.
  • Ensuring vehicles meet delivery times
  • Allocation of vehicles to loads
  • Order receipt
  • Route planning
  • Issuing purchase orders to suppliers
  • Ensuring service schedules are adhered to
  • Ensuring MOT dates are kept
  • Ensuring calibration checks are completed
  • Organic rectification of defects and breakdowns
  • Arranging pallet redemption/PCV control
  • Ensuring thermograph charts are changed weekly
  • Compiling Non Conformance Reports as necessary
  • Recording rates on daily loading programme
  • Completing daily situation reports
  • Dealing with customer queries
  • Recording discrepancies
  • Checking delivery paperwork for accuracy
  • All tasks to be performed according to company policies and procedures.
  • Attend courses or work through relevant training as required by your manager.
  • Any other duties required of you by your manager.
