Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire

Hours: Full-time 8.30 - 15:30

Salary: Between £90 and £100 per day

Reed Education are currently the exclusive recruitment partner for a thriving primary school located in Grimsby who are currently seeking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced HLTA to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the class teacher and leading small group interventions in our KS1 and KS2 classes.

The role is to begin in September 2024 and will be 12 weeks temporary with Reed before moving across to a contract with the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver lessons, ensuring that all pupils are engaged and making progress.
  • Lead small group interventions to support pupils who need additional help with their learning.
  • Provide cover for the class teacher in their absence, delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring that the class is well-managed, and pupils are on task.
  • Monitor pupils' progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher.
  • Manage behaviour in the classroom, ensuring that all pupils are safe and following the school's behaviour policy.

Essential Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working as a HLTA in a primary school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Understanding of the National Curriculum and how to effectively support pupils' learning.
  • Ability to manage behaviour in the classroom and follow the school's behaviour policy.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience leading interventions to support pupils' learning.
  • Experience working with pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Level 4 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification
  • Experience using ICT to support teaching and learning.
