SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant

Reed Education is currently working exclusively with a Grimsby Primary School who are seeking a dedicated SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant to join their team and support in a Year 4 class. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who has a passion for supporting children with EHCPs. The role is to work alongside several children in the class who have a higher level of need, either academically or social emotionally, or both.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide tailored support to children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities within a classroom setting.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and the classroom environment.
  • Encourage and assist children with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Monitor and support the progress and well-being of the children.
  • Facilitate the inclusion of SEN pupils in all aspects of school life.
  • Adapt communication style to meet the needs of individual children.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of the needs of children with SEN and the ability to meet these needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach to learning.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to tasks.
