Financial Controller

Guildford - Hybrid Working

£70,000 - £80,000 + benefits

We are looking for an established Financial Controller who can take control of the finance function for a successful and growing education and training group.

This position reports directly into an experienced Finance Director and is offering high levels of autonomy.

The Role

The successful Financial Controller will manage the following:

  • To produce monthly group management accounts including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Work with the FD and other Executives to produce budgets and forecasts for all entities in the group.
  • To be the main finance contact for 2 trading entities, including preparation of budgets; production of monthly management accounts; commission calculations for payroll and management of cashflow.
  • To track and report all expenditure in respect of grants received and presentation of these to the project board.
  • Oversee processes and reconciliations in respect of student numbers and student finance.
  • Manage the detailed audit process ensuring all audit deliverables are both timely and accurate.
  • Production of statutory accounts for a number of non-group entities.
  • Maintain contract register for the group and review all new contracts prior to signature by the CEO.
  • Responsibility for VAT returns including the VAT group return.
  • Financial modelling of new initiatives.
  • Support the FD and other Executives with ad-hoc analysis and tasks.
  • Assisting with overseeing and supporting the team as appropriate.
  • Maintain and build a number of strategic relationships.

We need someone who is technically strong, comfortable with monthly reporting/analysis and who also enjoys partnering with a wide variety of internal stakeholders.

Your Profile

We are looking for a tenured, hands on, qualified accountant.

Someone with prior experience as a Financial Controller or Finance Manager.

We need someone who is people focused and enjoys balancing technical reporting requirements with monthly and quarterly management reporting and budgeting cycles.

Benefits

£70,000 - £80,000 + benefits. This role is offered on a hybrid basis 2 days per week in office.
