A thriving SME in the Guildford area is looking to add an ambitious, motivated Assistant Accountant to their growing finance team. The role reports directly into the Financial Director, an inspirational and supportive leader who treats her staff with the respect and recognition they deserve.Your remit will be very broad, encompassing elements of transactional accounting such as purchase ledger, assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts, and some general office/administrative duties.This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a stable, successful business with a friendly, inclusive culture, which invests in and develops its employees to ensure their long-term career aspirations are achieved.What will the Assistant Accountant role involve?

  • Supporting with preparation of annual reports and audit.
  • Helping to prepare monthly management accounts, e.g. fixed assets, accruals & prepayments.
  • Assisting with cash flow, budgets, currency control and FX.
  • VAT returns.
  • Purchase ledger and other transactional tasks.
  • General office/administrative duties.

Suitable Candidate for the Assistant Accountant vacancy:

  • Background in transactional finance including purchase ledger, with some recent exposure to month end / management accounts.
  • First rate interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills, with excellent spoken and written English.
  • Positive, proactive, ‘can do’ attitude, well organised and willing to assist with whatever is required.
  • Knowledge of at least one major ERP system (ideally SAP) plus intermediate Excel (formulae and lookups).
  • AAT Level 4 / CIMA or ACCA studier.
