My client are an insurance corporation with global interests and a spread of different products on offer.

Due to an internal move, my client is seeking to appoint two Risk Consultants to operate in the first line. The roles are urgent and so ideally start as a Fixed term contract with a view to going permanent, but they are also open to straight permanent applicants.

The role is to support and partner with the insurance business in identifying, assessing, mitigating, reporting and monitoring its risk profile in order to achieve its business plan and objectives. The successful applicant will support the business in developing and embedding a robust risk and control environment, including compliance with functional rules.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the business to encourage the challenging of established risk processes, controls, approaches and thinking.
  • Proactively provide risk advice and support to management
  • Raise awareness of risks within the business, recommending and taking forward measures to either remove, mitigate or accept those risks.
  • Drive the development and embedding of risk appetite through the business
  • Lead development and embedding of KRIs and other relevant risk measures
  • Provide impactful, evidence based and structured risk/ controls insight to senior management and management committees
  • Support the development of effective governance, including through reporting and management committees
  • Support delivery of cross functional risk initiatives
  • Support business in ensuring risks and controls are considered in change activity
  • Work collaboratively and in alignment with other 1st line risk functions.
  • Develop and maintain own risk management capabilities and understanding.

Applications are welcomed from candidates who have experience across the second and third line and from a financial services background. Insurance experience is advantageous.

We seek someone with excellent organisational skills who is able to build relationships and converse at all levels of seniority with ease. You must be able to articulate and communicate risk to non technical stakeholders and be keen to add value in your role.

The offices are based in Surrey and the team meet in the office once every 1-2 weeks. Other than this the role is based from home.

Final interviews will be in person.

c£60-70k base (depending on experience) + strong benefits package and bonus potential.
